Day 2 Hwy Seven Heaven

Paper Poet-Pathfinder Motel/Campground
(104 km, 20.3km/hr avg, Saddle Time; 5:27)
Easy day except for the guy on Columbia St. who tried to take me out with a large recycling bin, oh, and the goof who tried to intimidate me with his car on King George Hwy (Surrey of coarse)... Anyway...
Was good camping at Tanya's last night. She helped me with some technical aspects of  my phone and computer. I'm still lost, but a better informed losty nonthelss.
By the way, if you need wedding invitations or just advice, find Paper Poet in New Westminster BC.
Pathfinder is crappy as far as camping goes, but I knew it was a place to crash. I took a secluded site in a corner. Across the fence I had cows on one side and Roosters on the other. Ha Ha.
I have ridden Hwy 7 out this way many times for Ironman training in the past. It would usually be an out and back trip or sometimes a loop returning via Chilliwack or Fort Langley. As I road today I would pass mental markers reminding of points on the highway where I would turn around. As the training rides progressed, so did the turnaround point. I can remember saying each time; "Next week I'll add 5k" but wished that I could keep going without a turnaround.
Well, this day I saw that last turnaround point and kept moving forward knowing I will not be turning back. What an Awesome feeling !
I noticed that the road has seen some improvements and is also being doubled in areas. So much for the quite scenic route that once was. Too many people, too many cars I guess. Supply and demand will never end till all is Borgavide.(see Star Trek references)
Anyway, a nostalgic ride just the same. Oh and a gentle tailwind 50% of the time and sunny weather didn't hurt...
Break on Golden Ears Bridge

This is a toll bridge joining Surrey to Maple Ridge. It marked the end of the small ferry service from Maple Ridge to Fort Langely. The ride along the Golden Ears Parkway can't be beat. Awesome bridge, but nobody wants to pay the toll. So, it's a nice quiet break location for me. If you were wondering, I had 2 ham sandwiches, no dressing. I spent all my money on panniers and camping stuff.
smart signage

Hwy 7. I have ridden this route many times, this time I won't be turning around. Sweet
