Windy day. Lots of tailwind and crosswind. nice !! Threatening clouds all day, but stayed dry. Very desolate landscape. Almost no services, you really feel alone out here.
Being a BC lad for 20 years, I found myself amazed at this rugged and downright scary environment.
This was probably the most exciting day of riding even though there was nothing to look at but underfed vegetation, and rock. I felt like an alien on a distant planet.
Was happy to see Barachois Provincial Park.
The park gate keeper was was impressed by my travels and his assistant spoke of a trip he did around the "Rock" last year combining bike and boat. They gave me a site right on the water with ample seclusion. For $15.00, this is fantastic !
This was an interesting ride indeed. As I rode through the strange landscapes, I kept saying to myself and to Highwaycat : "We are in a new land", "We are in Newfoundland!"
A gloomy morning start. Feeling a bit apprehensive about my first full day on the Rock as I didn't research the route.
St. James Anglican Cemetary. Some stones were too old for upkeep as they were leaning or fallen.
The other Hotel in town. Not much else here, a very small town indeed. I was surprised.
A sign to remember...
Strange landscape...
The numbers game continues...
HWC approoved route
Lots of big stuff utilizing this corridor.
Boobies
Gloomy desolation
Lots of Moose signage. Many collisions here. No winners.
Larry, Curly and Moe...
HWC Approved camping...Barachoise Pond Prov. Park.
Down to my pad
A Great Site indeed...
Highwaycat loves the outdoors as you can see..I, however have gone insane...
Food by Fire, fire gooood.

Awesome ride Cousin Sean! Your Aunt Ruthie's girls (Susan, Karen and Colleen) have enjoyed your pictures and funny commentary. I especially loved seeing your parents' house and Grandma Peever's house...not so scary! I live with three cycling enthusiasts and Lance Armstrong wannabes. My husband, Doug, rides every weekend and Son, Stephen, is on his college cycling team. Younger son, Sean, is just getting started. I'm more of a spectator, but we have all enjoyed reading about your adventure. Congrats on a great ride!
